Local Happenings of Note in September
There are many events happening throughout the area, we are hoping you will do your own exploring and research to find what is best for you and your schedule.
Here are a few events of note:
September 3 -Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral; 5:30 pm. at the North end of the Bethany Beach Boardwalk. An annual “End of Summer Celebration” takes place on the Bethany Beach boardwalk. This "quirky" Jazz Funeral tradition is family-friendly, free to the public, and you can watch as the parade goes by or even dress in costume for the occasion. If you missed this year, plan ahead for next year!
September 6 - Operation SEAs the Day invites everyone to line the streets on Friday, September 6th, to welcome buses carrying Wounded Warriors and their families. Part of the 11th Anniversary of Warrior Beach Week by Operations SEAs the Day Bethany Beach, this Heroes Welcome Home Parade is an amazing chance to show Warrior Families how much you appreciate the sacrifices they've made for our country. Bring your friends, family, and neighbors to the parade route!
The motorcade route will begin at Sea Colony Marketplace at 4:30pm then proceed south on Route 1 through South Bethany and Fenwick Island, before turning onLighthouse Road (Rt 54) to arrive at the final stop of Freeman Arts Pavilion around 5:00pm.
Wear red, white, and blue, wave an American Flag or just be there to cheer andsay 'thank you’!
September 7 - The 46th Bethany Beach Boardwalk Arts Festival; 10 am – 5 pm in downtown Bethany Beach. This year’s event includes over 100 juried artists featuring paintings, woodwork, metal, clay, jewelry, porcelain, and more!
September 7 & 8 - The 46th Annual Nanticoke Indian Powwow - Native AmericanCulture at Hudson Fields, 30045 Eagle Crest Road Milton. Celebrate the 46th Annual Nanticoke Indian Powwow through traditional music, dance, Native American crafts and food. This spectacular 2-day powwow features intertribal Native American dancers and an expansive market of authentic Native American art, crafts, jewelry, food (don’t miss the fry bread & Nanticoke Indian Tacos!), the Southern Delaware Hot Rod Car Show and more. The Nanticoke Indian Powwow is an experience not to be missed, connecting the public to ancient Native American traditions and cultures and to each other.
September 15 - Endless Summer Party; 2 pm - 6pm at the Roxanna Fire Department, 35943 Zion Church Rd., Frankford. Come join the Rotary Club and The Real McCoy Group for food, live music, corn-hole tournament and libations to celebrate our Endless Summer here at the beach! Proceeds benefit our LOCAL COMMUNITY including: Food Banks, School Supplies of IRSD, Way Forward scholarships at DelTech, Dictionaries for third graders in Southern IRSD, local suicide prevention groups, Alzheimers Rehoboth Walk, Leadership for our high-school youth through RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), local Veteran affairs housing and assistance, local youth mental health and sports programs.
September 17 - Mysteries of the Marsh; 11:30am at the James Farm Ecological Preserve. Uncover the secrets of the marsh as we take a guided nature walk towards the marsh at the James Farm Ecological Preserve. Learn why marshes are one of the most important habitats in our Inland Bays watershed. We’ll be walking approximately 1-2 miles over various terrain with frequent stops.
Please note: Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian present at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
September 27 - 29 - Oceans Calling Festival; The festival on the Ocean City Boardwalk offers a vibrant celebration of music, food, and breathtaking ocean views. With over 30 performances spread across three stages, attendees can enjoy a diverse range of musical acts. Local and regional food vendors provide a variety of delicious options. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, the festival creates an unforgettable experience for all who attend.

Bethany Bandstand Events - Bandstand performances take place on Thursday nights in the summer. Summer Wednesdays will feature "Kids Nights" in July and the occasional rain date.
